In upgrading my ipod to OS 4.0 without any writable CDs in the house, my ipod has now been wiped by Apple.

This week is just not being good to me.

Why did Apple wipe it?

Apparently it was necessary to install the new OS 4.0. I consider it lazy programming/whatever you want to call it.

Apple doesnt give a shit if it wipes things from your Ipod...Trust me, Ive had a expierence like this..

I have to admit with Brucil on this one, although it is truly sad that it happened, I doubt nothing can be done about it.

It reminds me of my hardrive issue, although still under warranty and sent to the company 2 times to get it fixed, they still wanted me to pay over 1800$ to retrieve my data although I believe they should have done so free of charge because it was their fault and I was still under warranty. Companies will give you a new piece of hardware if it is damaged or defective but they care not about the data on it.

That's wrong, you're handing over stuff to them to fix because it's their fault that it's broken. They have a duty to take care of the data. It's not hard to preserve.

Think of it this way: Apple maintains a "one time purchase" rule (for the most part). You can buy a song once, but according to their official rules, if you lose it for some reason that isn't an exception, you have to guy it again.

Although at this point most people just pirate it under a fair play situation, which is what i'm doing.

Correct... Zune is way better. Tho I never have had a prob with my iPod classic, or itunes even. Zune just adds a bunch more to their product... with good service.

I really hate Apple products.
