The animation does increase as the show progresses, and the colors get more vibrant. Since, well... The creator of One Piece makes $250,000,000 on One Piece alone. He had no idea that the show would be such a huge success (going on it's 11th year of production).

Admiral Kizaru (light) is the weakest of the Marine Admirals, and overly cocky when he really shouldn't be. Akainu (magma) is probably the strongest, though Aokiji (ice) is right on his coat tail.

I don't find him as cocky as much as I find him... ignorant? No... that's not the word I'm looking for... but I can't think of one that fits.

Carefree maybe? In a way... He sorta-kinda reminds me of Luffy: not afraid of anything.

Well... That's because Luffy is very selfless, he cares about others before himself (Jedi pirate!?). The only men she's met before Luffy have been selfish and/or abusive.
