Battle for Mithron Empty
PostSubject: Battle for Mithron   Battle for Mithron EmptySun Apr 24, 2011 11:18 pm

Spoiler:

Colonel Marron Nakin, of the Alderaan 10th Light Infantry strolled into the briefing chamber of the Destroyer, the Challenger. He was tall, lean and gaunt, dressed in his own personal sky blue dress uniform, like all of the officers in the room, except for one shady looking fellow standing in the back. Nakin was almost forty years of age, with cropped, silver hair and piecing blue eyes. He was imposing, not only because of his looks but also because of his actions. Nakin was a decorated war veteran having fought both Mandalorian raiders and Sith alike. He nodded towards the Admiral Berlo, overall Commander of the Republic Taskforce.

Berlo cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention as he powered up the Holoprojecter, “Alright everyone,” he said, “This back water planet is called Mithron. As you can see, it’s a desert planet, with a population around two million. Basically, it’s a barren ball of rock that the Republic shouldn’t even care about.”

“Then why are we even here?” A younger Colonel asked, from the Andarke fifth.

“In all honesty, I have no idea,” the Admiral responded. “Some Jedi bullshit apparently; but all we care about is the fact that the Sith are interested in it.” The Admiral continued to ramble on for the next twenty minutes, mainly about troop dispositions, the overall plan of attack and any known information about the enemy.

“Colonel Nakin,” the Admiral started, “You’ll be infiltrated approximately twenty clicks north of this town here,” The Admiral pointed at a small village near some mountains, “We believe that the Sith have set up their Planetary Command post there. Knocking that out will be vital for the success of this operation.”

Nakin nodded, “Know anything about the town?”

“Not a damn thing asides the fact that there’s a lot of Sith activity around it,” Berlo paused, “Which is why you’re being sent in with some extra….Firepower.”

Nakin raised an eyebrow, intrigued, “Extra Firepower, sir?”

“Aye, say hello to Colonel Brucil, of the 1st Special Forces Operations Detachment.”
The man standing in the back, who was already fully armored walked forward and shook Nakin’s hand. He was tall, taller than Nakin and older also, Nakin estimated that he was around fifty; maybe a bit younger. Brucil also had three cybernetic fingers on his right hand; in addition he was bald, with a wicked looking goatee and dark. With steel colored eyes; a long, nasty looking scar ran down his right eye. In all honesty, Brucil scared the shit out of Nakin.

“My team’s already suited up and ready,” Brucil started, “Get yours ready and try to find some actual clothing.” And with that Brucil simply turned and left, heading towards the hanger to wait for the 10th Light Infantry.

that and maybe color them? That helps a lot separating characters, up to you though that comes down to preference.

Eh. I never liked coloring quotes, to lazy.

And the quotes and paragraphs got all screwed up when I copy and pasted it over. Wasn't paying attention.

Will update it by Friday at the latest.

Battle for Mithron Empty

Spoiler:

Colonel Nakin had followed Brucil’s advice and changed into his combat gear; standard issue desert combat fatigues and armor with a long, dark brown camo-cape. He walked into the hanger of the Challenger, which was filled with Soldiers and Navy Crewmen preparing for the invasion which would come in a few days. Forty of his best men where crowded around a group of drop ships, each soldier checking and rechecking their gear before they moved out to deploy on the planet.

Sergeant-Major Nuin Leesyn, a short well-built Miralan walked up to Nakin, “Colonel?” he asked, “Do we have our orders?”

Nakin nodded, “That we do Sergeant; we’re to deploy to sector 32-34/A and take out the Sith High Command.”

Leesyn pulled out his own data slate and scanned over the map of the sector, “Alright Colonel,” he said with a nod, “I’ll send out maps to the squad leaders.”

Leesyn stood next to Nakin awkwardly, as if he wanted to say something but didn’t think he should actually say it.

“What is it, Sergeant?” Nakin asked.

“Is it true? That they’re going to go with us?” Nuin asked, with a nod to a group of strange looking men and women standing around a drop ship.

Nakin flinched slightly as he focused in on them, “Yes,” he said, “Apparently they are.”

The group, twelve strong, seemed out of place. They each had different weapons and armor and one of them, a human male, wasn’t even wearing any armor, instead wearing a dark blue flight jacket and black pants. He noticed one, who looked familiar. Nakin started to walk towards him; he got within ten feet of him before recognizing him. It was one of his former soldiers, Corporal Meric Nexkin, from sixth company. For a long time, Nexkin had been one of the best soldiers in the Unit, an expert at stealth and an incredible shot; but he’d always been unstable, to say the least.

He had eventually snapped and shot a couple of civilians on Tatooine while on shore leave; he’d been sentenced to life in prison and had been serving his time for almost four years.

Nakin walked up to him and asked, “Nexkin, what the hell are you doing here?”

Nexkin looked up and mumbled, “I can’t answer that. Classified.”

“You can’t answer that, sir. It’s classified, sir,” Nakin said angrily, he took a step forward, but was immediately hit in the back of the head with something.

Nexkin rolled his eyes and picked up his kit and walked towards the rest of his comrades. This pissed Nakin off even more; he reached forward and grabbed Nexkin by the plate of his armor. He was immediately stopped, a tattooed arm wrapped around him, holding him in a choke hold.

“You better watch yourself, Alderaan,” a woman said, from behind him. She walked into view; she was tall and slender, with raven black hair and sky blue eyes. He would’ve considered her to be beautiful, but she seemed like a psychopath. He wasn’t into those sorts of women. She simply nodded behind Nakin, the arm released from around his neck.

A tall, scrawny man with spiked dark red hair walked passed him; Nakin noticed his tattoos and recognized them instantly as gang tats, he didn’t know what planet they were from, but he knew for a fact they were indeed gang tattoos.

Leesyn ran up to Nakin, who was still trying to catch his breath.

“Are you all right, Colonel?” he asked worriedly.

“Fine, fine,” Nakin responded while straightening the collar of his undershirt, “Didn’t even hear that little shit sneak up behind me.”

“I barely saw him, I didn’t realize you were being attacked till he let go,” he paused, “That lot’ll be trouble.”

Nakin nodded in agreement, “Yea, that they will be…” he was about to make another remark, but was quickly cut off by a powerful voice from approaching the rabble.

“Alright you sorry lot, get aboard that Drop ship! We’re leaving immediately!”

Nakin spun around and realized it was Brucil shouting. “Where the hell are they going?”

“They’re, apparently, heading in ahead of us to clear the LZ,” Leesyn responded, “At least they’ll be out of our hair for a while.” He added with a smile.

Nakin nodded again, smiling as well. He wouldn’t miss that group.

* * *

An hour had passed since Brucil’s group had left. Nakin’s group were just preparing to leave when a young human women of medium build, wearing dark brown robes ran up to Nakin. She was obviously flustered and slightly confused.

“Colonel,” she began, breathing heavily, “Have you seen Brucil anywhere? I was supposed to land and watch over his group.”

Nakin looked towards Leesyn, who shrugged, also confused.

“What’s your name?” Nakin asked.

“Oh, I’m Padawan…I mean, Jedi Knight. I was just recently promoted,” her cheeks were beat read with embarrassment, “My name’s Aily Varik, as I said I was sent by my Master to oversee Brucil and make sure he doesn’t do anything…out of line.”

“Well, Miss Varik, it seems you missed Brucil. He left almost a hour ago.”
