| People seem to be most afraid of sounds; the sound of things). Sound seems to scare more (easily) than sight, smell, taste, and touch. Why is that? | |

| Because hearing something is typically your best way to be warned and get the hell away from threats.
When you only see a potential threat, or smell it...Chances are the threat's too goddamn close to run away from. | |

Because your hearing is always activated. When you sleep, you can still hear. It's basic survival instinct, to catch every sound. Since there was the danger of being eaten by a predator a few millenia ago, people probably had a hard time during the night, when you couldn't see anything. That's why the hearing evolved so much, because in the darkness, it was probably the only way to know if there was danger, and where it was coming from. At least, that's what I think. | |
