So... I experienced my first ever derecho (aka major wind gust storm)--that I recall--yesterday. Winds reached 70-80MPH, though it wasn't constant. Derechos are pretty rare here too. The atlantic coast usually only experiences one every 6 years; if that even.

Was pretty scary man. I hate fucking wind. More than fires, earthquakes, and floods.

Never been in an earthquake or fire (or had one near me for that matter)... but we get winds like that here (we call em straight line winds) about once a year (or a few) to every other years since I can remember as a kid. And yeah... it doesn't get much less worrisome because trees and shat are always comin' down in them. We get a lot more tornadoes tho... which aren't as threatening to the region alone... but god help you if you're anywhere near one.

It's funny...wind is the scariest element to me.

I've been near a wildfire before, wasn't worried.
I've been near minor to moderate flooding before, wasn't (that) worried.
I've been in an earthquake before, wasn't scared at all.
But wind (derecho, tornado etc)...it puts me on edge.

Flooding scares me more... I've seen debris slides. Wind you can hide from in the basement... water and mud you can't.
