I suppose.

But why even bother if you hate the genre to begin with, and, more than likely, automatically give the song a 0 out of 5 rating? You can give a less bias rating by rating a song of the genre you like.

Then there would be no point in rating anything if it's all going to be shit I like.

Burk is having a point. Why having a rating system at all if you aren't allowed to say something sucks. They you shouldn't have added the rule that you need to rate the song above... I mean... Sorry smiley guy but... That isn't logical.

There's so many genres of rock and metal, and so many different bands in the 2 genres, it isn't even funny.

Even though I like rock and metal, I prefer some genres of metal over others (and flat out hate some)--and therefore, more than likely, give the genres I prefer higher ratings then the genres I don't prefer. This doesn't mean I won't give genres of rock and metal I like less lower ratings all the time, in fact, I've been surprised by some songs from genres of rock and metal I like less--in turn, giving them higher ratings. I just find it REALLY silly, that, if you hate a genre with a passion (like Burke hates dubstep) why even bother listening to/rating it in the first place? You "enter" listening to the song with an already huge bias, which clouds an accurate rating.

Like I said though, he can rate songs anyway he wants; that makes him happy. Just...I find rating a song of a genre you absolutely hate to begin with funny, especially since you DO NOT have to rate the song directly above you.

As long as you support your opinion with explaining why it is better i guess.

@Titan (I'm rating it this way, because I'm having issues quoting your post)

3 out of 5.

A pretty good song. I'm usually not a fan of--I pretty much hate--"brutal death metal", but, I did enjoy this particular song. Excellent instrumentation, and bearable vocals.

Grand Gathas of Baal Sin by Melechesh
Album: The Epigenesis
Genre(s): Power metal, progressive black metal, (Egyptian) folk metal.

Your video isn't loading up for me, Aeraie.

I really like Death, one of the few "pure" death metal bands that I like. This isn't my favorite song by them however, hence, the "4 out of 5" rating I gave.

Fury by Machinae Supremacy
Album: Redeemer (2007)
Genre(s): Alternative metal, progressive electronic rock, power metal, progressive industrial metal.

Additional note: They use a "SidStation" which features a "SID chip" of an old Commodore 64 gaming system. (That's why, sometimes, you can hear a sound that sounds like it's out of a Mario video game).

A pretty good song. The only thing that brought it down for me, and gave it the somewhat low "3 out of 5" rating, is nothing much happens in the song (i.e. no climax). It is seemingly pretty boring. (Maybe that's the point though; being bleak and dark).

Welcome to Mercy Falls by Seventh Wonder.

You're very welcome. And you're a Devy fan, too? I am a huuuuge Devin Townsend fan. As Townsend said, this album is supposed to be a huge mash up of different genres. And so far, I only heard two songs. Not even a milliliter of disappointment.

I've never heard anything like it, to be honest (the new album). It's very unique. I think it's because he combined New Age music (i.e. Enya) with metal--a very, VERY rare combination.

Eh. Don't like the vocals or the keyboard/symphonic stuff in the background. The shit sound mixing doesn't help either.

You're a Goatwhore, Brucil. Anyway...

3.5 out of 5.

Goatwhore... I either like a song of theirs or I don't like a song of theirs. The song you shared, however, is pretty good. My favorite part is the instrumentation of course, like most songs they put out.

God Is An Automaton by Sybreed
Genre(s): Industrial metal, groove metal, progressive metal, melodic death metal

Had to repost this post, but I finally got a video to work (though it's a different one).
