“I’m a diplomat. I speak the truth others refuse to see. I am the voice to those who have none. I do not wish to bring my weapons into this conflict, but I will do everything I can to save our Republic from total oblivion. Whatever it may take to restore peace, I will do, for the well being of innocent at all costs…” - Hera Megaran

Hera Megaran was a human/Zeltron hybrid female who served as the senator of Chandrila and the Bormea sector during both Great Galactic Wars between the Republic and the True Sith. Including her duties as a senator, she also assisted the Republic by partaking in dangerous diplomatic missions. She later would join a secret group of elite Jedi and soldiers known as the Fillorean Society. Hera was the daughter of esteemed diplomat Tathines Megaran and Zeltron dancer Nonie Duiveel. She had two younger half-siblings, Kayto and Tyber Megaran.

Hera was named after her paternal great-grandfather, Heraymus Megaran, an influential politician and the first Megaran governor of Chandrila. Hera feared as a child that she would never live up to his legacy.

She spent most of her life on Chandrila, taught by tutors with a huge emphasis on political education and debate. At the age of thirteen she was sent to live with Nevara, a former Mandalorian warrior, and her siblings in the hills. There she was taught hand-to-hand and melee combat. The siblings also taught her techniques similar to Jedi mediation and other practices focused to help center herself. After spending a year with the siblings she was sent back to Hanna City where she enrolled in the Brionelle Memorial Military Academy. She spent four years at the academy, graduating the top of her class as a fleet officer and ambassador. As a graduation present, her family arranged a marriage between her and ChandrilTech competitor, Garrison Kialin, owner of Kialin Industries. Hera was then assigned as Tathines’ representative aide from Chandrila.

When her father ran for governor a few years later, Hera ran as senator. She won by a huge majority, as did her father. The new senator quickly became an enormous threat to the Sith Empire. She constantly spoke out against the faction, earning many supporters as well as a hefty bounty placed on her head. Her husband, Garrison, was murdered by Sith agents, trying to send a message to the senator. A grief-struck Megaran found that she could not give in to the will of the Sith. Their actions only convinced her to fight harder.

As the war raged on, Hera sought consul with General Garza, a military leader known for doing whatever it took to succeed. The senator persuaded the general into convincing the chancellor to allow her to partake in hostile diplomatic situations. The chancellor permitted it and assigned her to a small task-force on two missions, the Assault of the Nara Starway and The Battle for the Blood Bond.

Senator Megaran, after watching the Sith sack Coruscant, came to the conclusion that she had to do something more to assist the Republic. Marta Odin, a friend of Hera’s who worked in the senate, pointed her in the direction of Sergei Meranov, Senator of Talus. Sergei was apart of a secret collection of elite Jedi and soldiers known as The Fillorean Society. He extended her an invitation to join, which she accepted on the spot. Hera Megaran hoped as a Fillorean she would be able to help the galaxy defeat the treacherous Sith in a more proactive way…

Appearance/ Personality

Many people often described Hera Megaran as strikingly beautiful. Her long wavy orange locks were naturally highlighted pink and styled in either a messy bun or ponytail. Hera’s eyes were a unique pinkish color that always held a profound look. She received these physical attributes from her mother along with her voluptuous figure. Hera also was very physically fit, having a subtle muscle tone throughout her body, distinct yet not grotesque. Her hair, color of her skin, and her stern brow were the few traits her father gave her. Her skin was flawless, with the exception of scars, and alabaster but frequently flushed into a shade of pink when she was embarrassed or flattered. She had a round-like face, with defined cheekbones and chin. Her appearance would sometimes change when she was on undercover missions. Hera would hide her obviously unique features by either dying her hair or wearing color changing contacts.

Her internal self was less humanoid than her external self. Like Zeltrons, she had an extremely high pheromone count and two livers. The two livers were very beneficial to her, while the increased pheromone count was more of a hassle than help.

The senator would wear elaborate robes symbolizing her homeworld and culture. These robes were normally red and gold, the colors of the Megaran household. When she was not attending a gala or the Senate, she dressed in tight white pants, a red tank-top, soft-brushed brown leather boots and a golden armor-plated flight jacket. Other accessories she wore included: a brown belt with a gold buckle, holsters, and cortosis arm braces. A locket with intricate patterns carved onto it, given to her by Tomas Hardin, hung around her neck.

Hera, even as a child, was always extremely compassionate. She could not help but to put others before herself. She was raised to be empathic, responsible, and severely dedicated. Her genius-like intellect made her arrogant, resulting in her being very aggravating at times. Her military stature and behavior was a result from her years at Brionelle. She is known to have a dry sense of humor and a tender sweetness to her.

Passionate, strong, and witty, Hera Megaran prefers talking over fighting any day. When it comes to physical activities, such as sports or fighting, she is surprisingly aggressive. Her family and close friends assume that her violent spells are left-over misery from her husband’s murder.

She use to believe fighting was for the weaker and dumber specimen in the galaxy, choosing her words instead; however, she takes up arms against the Sith with a strange innate pride. She is an inspiring leader on the battlefield and in the Senate. Her sharp tongue and unparallel finesse using Vibro-blades and blasters gain her nothing but admiration among her peers. She also achieved stature within the ranks as she aged and continued to fight with vigor. After Coruscant was attacked, Hera became more brutal in her tactics, on both fronts. She originally strongly believed in the ideal of peace, but started to doubt the ideal completely.

Hera was very protective of her friends, her family, and her people; possessing a strong connection to them she would do anything for them, even kill. Since Garrison died, she has problems opening up and caring for anyone. As her life progresses she watches more of her loved ones slip away, changing her personality dramatically in the future.

Biography

Pre-Birth (Before BTC 32)
“I was born on Zeltros, to a mother who didn’t want me or the responsibility I would bring. She hopped on a transport as soon as I was old enough to travel, hoping my father would take me off her hands.” Hera shares her limited knowledge of her mother with a friend.

Tathines Megaran (also known as Tate) was an upstanding citizen and representative aide of Chandrila, soon to be married to the young heiress Jewels Boyar. He found himself on Zeltros, a planet known for its extravagant casinos and its alluring species, for his last week of freedom. His friends dragged him into the Red Ruby for a night of gambling and drinking. After blowing away most of his money on booze and cards, he found himself drawn to a young Zeltron dancer. Her exotic looks, along with her increased pheromone count, and the revealing outfit she wore, made Tate want her badly. He failed at charming the Zeltron known as Nonie; however, she took pity on him and his horrible flirting, allowing him to take her to his room.

The next morning Nonie was gone and Tathines awoke with no memory of the previous night. They left later that day for Chandrila.

Nonie found out she was pregnant a month later, deciding to stay on at the casino for as long as possible. As soon as she started showing, she was fired and told she could back as soon as the baby was no longer a factor. Without a steady income, Nonie could hardly buy food or keep up with the rent. After her first night on the streets, the Zeltron decided immediately that she could not keep this baby. They moved from shelter to shelter until the child was ready to be born. It was a girl. She was born 32 BTC, with flaming red hair, white skin, and blazing pink eyes. Nonie refused to name it, instead stuck to calling it “Baby”. Once the baby was old enough to travel, Nonie acquired passage on a smuggler’s ship, heading for Chandrila.

During this time, Tathines was elected Senator of Chandrila/Bormea Sector and was away on Coruscant with his bride.

Childhood (BTC 32 – BTC 20)

“You can have anything you want, my dear. All you have to do is fight for it.”- Tathines advice to a young Hera.

Nonie had left the baby on doorstep of the Megaran’s mansion with a datapad laid next her. One of the droids found her and handed the newborn over to Governor Tyberyus Megaran and his wife. The governor read the datapad and was appalled by his own son’s carelessness. Despite the actions of her father, Tyberyus eagerly welcomed the baby into his home. The old man took it upon himself to name the girl. He named her Hera, in honor of Heraymus, her great-grandfather. Her grandparents took good care of Hera, showering her with affection and gifts, ecstatic to already have a grandchild.

Tathines and Jewels returned home a month later to find the new addition to the family. His wife was so infuriated that she left the mansion for her parent’s dwelling. The senator could not believe it, even as he read the datapad that said:

“Hello Tathines. It’s Nonie. I do not know if you remember me from that night on Zeltros, but unfortunately that is all I can afford to think of, since I’m now a mother. I was not quite sure whether it was yours or not until she was born. You were the only human I slept with around that time period. I know this may be hard to believe but you have a daughter. A daughter I can not possibly take care of properly. That night you were blabbering about your life. You told me you were the Governor of Chandrila’s son, how you were well-off, and how much you loved your future wife. I did not send our daughter here to ruin your life or make things difficult. I hope you can accept her and love her, for that is something I can not do.”

He went so far as demanding a paternity test. When the results came back positive, he knew he had no choice but to accept it. He spent a week with the baby, trying to become a father to the Hera. His attempt was successful, finding that he adored the baby beyond compare. Tathines managed to convince Jewels to forgive him and give his child a chance.

As a young girl, Hera was instilled with good morale values and, like other Megarans, a passion for the senate. Because of her family’s reputation and fortune, she was well educated in all the basics with a stress on political debate and history. Her grandfather once told her that you could not hope to improve the galaxy if every one kept repeating history like a broken holo-record. Hera loved learning new things and embraced her education with open arms.

Her childhood remained normal, even as her father and step-mother conceived two sons, twins Kayto and Tyber. Soon after they were born, Hera was finally allowed to go to Coruscant at the age of seven. Her father showed her all the sights worth seeing on the planet covered in skyscrapers. She visited the Jedi Temple and most importantly, the Galactic Senate. The trip resulted in her wanting to become a senator more than ever as well as an obsession with spacecraft.

Adolescence and Early Adulthood (BTC 19 – BTC 6)
“I know this wasn’t what you wanted, but trust me when I say I will make you a very happy woman.”Garrison says to Hera before their wedding.

When Hera turned thirteen, her father sent her away for a year. Tathines wanted to insure that his daughter could physically take care of herself. He did not want her to have to rely on the protection of the sometimes incompetent guards. He did not want her to live a life were she felt complete and utterly helpless.

She was not far from the Megaran Mansion, only an hour away. She spent that year nestled in the hills of Chandrila, learning skills from three Mandalorian outcasts; Nevara, Ado, and Avonna.

Hera was reluctant to begin her training since she was taught that a diplomatic solution was always the best course of action. She was pampered and unexposed to the violence of the galaxy and its hardships. Nevara was about to change that. The teenager was not allowed any contact with the outside world. She would sleep outside, living on the earth, until she could build her own hut. She could only have food she gathered or caught and drank water only she supplied herself with. As soon as that was down, the real fun would begin.

She was forced to take mile runs through the hills with gear strapped to her back and when she returned she would go through a series of drills that left her lacking the energy to continue. Ado, the only male in the group, was in charge of her armed sparring sessions. They would both use electro-staffs to duel each other with. The first session, Hera was shocked by the current running through the staff and hammered by the thick metal. Later she would be attacked by Nevara, who brutally beat her because Hera could not block any of her advances. After that Avonna would try and teach the young woman to center herself.

Luckily, after instruction and many days like her first, she was able to enormously improve. In the end, she passed all of her tests with flying colors.

When she returned home she decided instead of going to a typical university off world, she would stay and attend the Brionelle Memorial Military Academy.

At the academy, she learned to pilot all sorts of aircraft, discovering that she had a natural knack for it. Hera experienced intense space battle scenarios accompanied by several armed combat classes. With this military experience she also received impressive academic courses ranging from military tactics to a large range of political sciences.

She graduated at the top of her class as a fleet officer and an ambassador.

Hera’s graduation present was a marriage, arranged between her and wealthy industrialist Garrison Kialin, who was only a few years her senior. Garrison owned a large company that produced anything from droids to weapons to vehicles. His company was a huge competitor of ChandrilTech, delivering a more advanced datadaggers than they could. Kialin Industries also rivaled other large weapon factories in the galaxy and was uncertain exactly who they would supply as tensions rose. Tathines figured if he gave his daughter to the industrialist that he may be convinced to support the Republic.

She was not pleased with this arranged marriage at first, fearing that she would have to move and that she would be stuck with a man she could not love. Garrison was eager to please his fiancé. He was willing to buy a house in Hanna City and do anything else she desired. Hera could not help but adore and eventually fall in love with Garrison.

After the wedding, Tathines offered Hera the job as his representative aide from Chandrila. She accepted.

She spent the next six years observing her father and the behaviors of other senators. Hera became well acquainted with many of them, squeezing her way into their little circles. She studied the tendencies and patterns the Senate took to pass legislature and discuss problems within Republic Space, such as the war. At home she made a name for herself by giving lectures to her fellow Chandrilans and actively participating in the debates that took place in the Chandrilan House. She donated countless credits and hours to the people of her homeworld. Her political career was going great, as was her personal life, until she had a miscarriage.

Her husband was originally distraught by the news, but wanted to get past it and focus more on them. Garrison was determined to make Hera happy again. He did everything in his power to get her what she wanted and needed. As a birthday gift, Garrison custom built a starship for her which he called The White Flame.

At the end of BTC 6, Tathines’ term as senator ended and he decided to run as governor and Hera would run as senator. They both won by a huge majority, the new senator finally achieving her life long dream.

Diplomat and Warrior (BTC 5 – ATC 11)
“The Sith think they can beat me into submission? They think they can destroy my will? It will be my pleasure to show them what a Megaran is truly made of.”- Hera tells her father.

Her first year as a senator proved to the toughest. Hera made the beliefs of her and her world heard throughout the Senate. She established herself as a strong rival against the Sith Empire and all their supporters. She gave moving and touching speeches, protesting their actions as they continued to move through known space. Many people grew to believe and trust what Hera was saying. The Sith Empire was incapable of tolerating such devotion towards such a charismatic adversary. `

At first, they placed a bounty on her head. Few bounty hunters rose to the challenge attempting to assassinate the senator. Hera and her guards annihilated all attempts on her life. After almost a year in office, the Sith decided to change their tactics.

Sith agents planted a bomb underneath her husbands ship The Oasis. The morning he planned on leaving Coruscant to return to his factory, she watched him as he ascended up the ramp, turning around to wave goodbye to her. In an instant, the bomb detonated, the transport exploded into pieces. Hera planned to rush towards the debris but was held back by her guards.

Garrison was hardly recognizable when he was fished out of the wreckage. The authorities claimed that rival competitors placed the bomb on his ship. The young widow knew better. Hera knew this was meant as a message from the Sith. She knew immediately after it happened that she would not give up. She would not back down.

They held a memorial on Chandrila, burying him in the Megaran mausoleum.

Kialin Industries was now Hera’s. She placed Dukar Yount, a long time friend of Garrison’s, in charge of it while she was away, but she would remain in control of its assets and any company decisions.

At the beginning of her second year in office, Hera approached General Garza. She asked the general to talk to the chancellor concerning her participation in hostile diplomatic situations. Megaran relayed to Garza her military education and her combat finesse. The general agreed to talk to the chancellor.

The chancellor reluctantly agreed to allow Hera to aid a task force in stabilizing the situation on the space station Nara Starway. The task force consisted of Brayllis Arkham: a decorated human soldier, Gwynala Tal: a talented torgruta smuggler, Schmitt Avery: Special Forces operative, Vern Galnar: tech-specialist, and herself.

Nara Starway (BTC 5)
“How did the Red Krayt Dragon Gang get these wares? It looks like something the Sith Armada would carry.”
“The Sith must be supplying the gang. They want what’s on this station…”

Nara Starway was a Republic Research Facility that also served as a refueling point for ships. A variety of travelers made their way to the outpost to refuel and relax at cantina. A highly skilled Republic platoon was stationed on Nara Starway with orders to protect the researchers work. They were defenseless however when pirates and gang members flooded the once serene station, making the facility their new base of operations.

The Republic became suspicious after they received no word from Nara Starway. They managed to hack into the security footage from the station. It was apparent that their research facility was taken over by the notorious Red Krayt Dragon Gang. The Red Krayt Dragon Gang surfaced a hundred years ago as a hunting party. Their name was given to them by fellow hunters who watched the group take down an enormous krayt dragon. By the time they were finished with the dragon, it was covered in red blood. The gang evolved into a crime syndicate, pillaging worlds and terrorizing the outer rim with their antics. Their current leader was Ra’s Draugr. He was known for being the most iniquitous and intelligent crime lord in the galaxy.

The Republic could not send a battalion or fleet to take care of the gang, in fear of destroying their research. Instead, they decided to send in a small team to infiltrate their ranks, gather Intel, and force the Red Krayt Dragon Gang out of the station by any means necessary.

The task force managed to complete the first step to their mission with ease by using the identities of known criminals. The second part of their mission proved to be startling. The Red Krayt Dragon gang was being funded and supplied by Sith. The Sith clearly wanted the research from this station. Hera and Brayllis stumbled upon the Republic’s research by accident. They discovered that the research was actually a weapon called the Space Ripper. The Space Ripper was designed to pull a ship out of hyperspace before ripping the ship in pieces by using a sophisticated EMP cannon.

Hera managed to get extremely close to Ra’s earning his trust easily by using her “charm”. She convinced Draugr to betray the Sith by destroying the weapon and handing the station over to the Republic.

The Republic was disappointed in the task force for not protecting the research better but was pleased that they managed to get the station back. Senator Megaran had completed the mission perfectly, so they decided not to complain too much. There were no casualties and the gang left. They did not have to worry about the Space Ripper falling into the Sith’s hands.

The chancellor was curious about the tactics Hera really used. He even questioned the senator on the matter yet she was very cryptic.

After the event, she returned to everyday life, with an itching desire to go back out there again.

Battle of the Blood Bond (BTC 2)

Tomas: “It’s just a ship! What is the big deal?”
Hera: “That ship has been outfitted with a Space Ripper.”

A little more than two years after the events of Nara Starway, a massive ship emerged from the shadows. The Republic named it the Blood Bond. The vessel had received advanced modifications from Kialin Industries including: shield generators, engines, improved armor plating, security systems and intelligent turrets. Hera was informed about every aspect of this ship except one.

When the Blood Bond made its first appearance in an asteroid field apart of a small fleet in pursuit of enemy spacecraft, no one could have imagined what the starship was capable of. With a touch of a button, a long grayish beam tore the vessel out of hyperspace and then into pieces.

As Hera read the report given to her by Captain Brayllis Arkham, she was astonished. Did they not destroy the weapon and all the plans two years ago? Brayllis returned two weeks later to report that the ship had been lost. The Republic assumed it was Draugr again and sent a task force to the Krayt leader’s compound under the command of Jedi General Wezyn Vardoc. Ra’s managed to escape the attack only to be caught by Megaran and Arkham. The crime lord proclaimed that it was not him. A group of freelancers known as “The Royals” were responsible. They would find their answers on Coruscant at the Hairless Wookiee.

They returned to Coruscant to find a member of “The Royals” at the bar of the club. His name was Tomas Hardin. Tomas was a born and bred a smuggler from a crime ridden planet run by corrupt dictators. The planet was not in Republic Space and the location was hidden from the rest of the galaxy by a hostile fleet of merciless pirates. The name of this planet was Jienn-Jio.

Hera and Tomas immediately connected. He was fascinated by her so much that he turned his back on his “family” to help her retrieve the Blood Bond. The smuggler led them to Jienn-Jio where Megaran tried to reason with the ignorant and selfish leaders. She explained to them that having the ship made them a target by both the Republic and the Sith. Before they were taken prisoner Hera managed to contact her brother, Tyber and sent him the coordinates of Jienn-Jio.

After two days in custody, their rescue team arrived, consisting of Schmitt Avery, Vern Galnar, Tyber Megaran, Wezyn Vardoc, and Gwynala Tal. They managed to free them before the battle began yet the “The Royals” were ready for them. The group engaged in an intense battle, fighting their way out of the fortress in time to assist the incoming Republic Fleet.

The battle for the Blood Bond began. The pirates started to fire at the Republic, while the Sith sat back and watched as the Jienn-Jioians attacked with raw determination. The battle did not last long, thanks to Hera and her team. They had boarded the starship using her override codes and went straight to work. They divided into two teams, one heading for the shield generator and the other to the bridge.

With ship destroyed, the Sith fled. As soon as Hera returned to Coruscant she pushed forward legislature that would abolish such creations. Senator Megaran and the others were praised for their bravery; however, they all had gained a new enemy; Commodore Drayven Renarus. Over the next few years, Renarus would personally attempt to kill everyone apart of that team. He only succeeded in murdering Vern Galnar, Gwynala Tal, and Wezyn Vardoc.

The Sacking and the Change (BTC 0 – ATC 10)

“I thought you died, Hera.”
“I almost wished I had…”
- A conversation between Hera and Tomas after the Sacking of Coruscant.

After the Battle for the Blood Bond, everything returned to normal. The war drawing to an end and Hera, for the first time in years, was happy. Peace was about to spread its wings across the galaxy. She was considering if all went well, leaving politics for awhile. She felt an obligation to start a family with someone she knew she could be happy with. Tomas Hardin was going to be her first choice. As the delegation headed for Alderaan was about to depart, she experienced uneasy feelings. A part of her knew something was terribly wrong but she could not tell what.

Hera remained on Coruscant, in her lavish apartment, awaiting news from Alderaan. While she waited, the senator saw out of the corner of her eye the Sith. They fired down and began sacking the defenseless planet. She rallied her guards and Captain Arkham, heading for the Senate.

They met a few soldiers along the way, but nothing they could not handle. When they arrived, they were too late. Coruscant had been sacked, the chancellor killed, and the Jedi driven off the world. She was enraged by these actions and most importantly betrayed. The treaty had been signed and now all she could do was her job. Tomas found her devastated in her quarters and tried to comfort her but there was no use.

No committees could be made to oppose them. Megaran spent everyday in the Senate followed by droid. To evade it when she left Coruscant, she hired a decoy and gave her a tool to disrupt his frequencies. The Republic was weak and it’s people tired; however, Hera had not even begun to fight.

She only spoke to Marta Odin about what she wanted to do and with her help; Hera was directed towards Sergei Meranov, Senator of Talus. She had heard of and certainly seen Meranov in the Senate but never had any reason to approach him, until now. He spoke of society that was rising out of the rubble and needed strong, influential members. This organization was called the Fillorean Society. She accepted the invitation and joined the ranks of the secret society.

As a member, she piloted vessels and gave her opinion on matters. She tried her best to prove she was a capable asset. Along with her skills, Hera brought with her technology to install within the bases. Kialin Industries manufactured weapons and outfitted their existing vehicles with advanced technology which would help benefit them in during this Cold War.

She remained a member for two years before disappearing without a word for another two years. The senator returned to the society slightly changed. She had spent the previous years assisting her father in establishing her homeworld as a breadbasket for the Republic and putting ChandrilTech and Kialin Industries hard to work. They have also worked hard to improve Chandrila’s defenses and militia. The Megarans’ wanted to ensure that if another conflict broke out, they would be ready to defend their home. When she wasn’t doing that she was on Coruscant continuing her duties as senator.

Hera returned with hopes of proving that she still belonged with the Fillorean Society.

Relationships

The Megaran Family
“The Megarans are one of the most powerful, influential, and beloved families on Chandrila. If you mess with a Megaran you better be certain that you can fend off an entire planet.” Dukar Yount warns a Sith Lord.

The Megaran family can trace their lineage all the way back to the formation of the Republic. The family settled on Chandrila as skilled farmers. They farmed the land and raised their children in same place for thousands of years. In times of war, the Megarans would trade their farm equipment for blasters and fight alongside the Republic. They were natural warriors with the instincts of war-hardened veterans. Aryan and Flynn Megaran joined the Mandalorian and Jedi Civil Wars, both decorated for their bravery and promoted to leadership positions within the Republic.

After the fall of Malak, the Megarans never returned to their farming roots, instead they took on careers as soldiers and scholars. The Megaran’s did not turn to politics till Heraymus Megaran. As a native of Chandrila, political education was taught to every Megaran, yet none of them made it their career. Heraymus had a knack for debate and the drive to change his homeworld for the better. He was voted to the senate before becoming the first Megaran elected as governor. He opened the flood gate for Megaran politicians. His children, Tyberyus, Aryas, Josdyn, and Lyndy followed in his footsteps. Tyberyus became the next governor while Aryas took up a job as one of the chancellor’s aides, the others decided to teach politics instead. Tyberyus’ son, Tathines continued the tradition as the 3rd generation of Megaran governors. Hera is the first Megaran woman to become senator of Chandrila.

The natives of Chandrila adore the Megaran family. The believe them to be good, decent people who they can trust with their lives. They are fiercely loyal and dedicated to them, which explains the almost monarch system they have had since Heraymus.

The family currently consists of four members; others are either deceased or disowned.

Tathines Megaran

Tate: “You, my daughter, are the most precious thing in my life and I would never let anything happen to you.”Hera: “I’m more worried about something happening to you…because of me.”

Even though at first Tathines had his reservations about his daughter’s paternity, she proved to him everyday that she was indeed his. He grew so attached to her that he would often fall asleep in the nursery because he was afraid to let her go. He soon realized that he could not shelter this stubborn and strong child. Tathines has spent his life trying to help and push Hera. He often looked out for her best interests and arranged things that he thought would benefit her. They rarely see each other after the Sacking of Coruscant due to Hera’s other activities.

Jewels Boyar Megaran

“Sit up straight, child. Where are your manners? You are making me look bad in front of the committee!” Jewels snaps at the young Hera.

Being the closest thing she had to a mother, Hera idolized Jewels. Her stepmother would yell at her as a child if she was embarrassing or misbehaving even slightly. Her father claimed it was because Jewels tried so hard to be the authority figure he could not bring himself to be. Hera tried so hard to please her yet Jewels remained cold to her stepchild, until Garrison died. The senator was amazed as the iceberg between them seemed to melt away. Jewels enjoyed comforting Hera and only grew closer to her as the years passed.

Kayto and Tyber Megaran

“Kayto is a Boyar and I am a Megaran. We cancel each other out.”- Tyber comments about the temperament of his brother.
Kayto and Tyber were Hera’s twin brothers. They offered their sister constant amusement as they grew into charming young men. Kayto had a more relaxed personality, while Tyber was obsessed with duty and achieving honor. Kayto wanted to own casinos and make a living off the self-indulgence of others. Tyber aimed to become an admiral in the Republic Fleet. Due to these extreme differences between the twins, they did not get along often. Kayto was pariah his family for not pursuing a military or political career. Her grandfather’s last words to Kayto were;

“Megarans were born for three things in this galaxy: farming, fighting, and politics. If a Megaran does anything other than that, he or she is denying their blood and a man that denies his blood does not exist. Well not in my eyes, anyway.”

Hera could not bring herself to treat her brother like that, though. As the rest of the family shut him out, she helped him achieve his dream. She loaned him the money to build a casino on Coruscant, in the heart of the entertainment sector. Business thrived. Kayto was not the only brother Hera helped. She saved Tyber’s life numerous times. She has a very close and personal relationship with them both.

(Notable Megarans: Margo Megaran, Aryan Megaran, Flynn Megaran, Heraymus Megaran, Tyberyus Megaran, Tathines Megaran, Hera Megaran, Tyber Megaran)

Other Family

Nonie Duvieel
“Why don’t you talk to her?”
“Why don’t I talk to the woman who abandoned me because she preferred the profession of whore rather than mother? Gee Garry; I don’t know why I haven’t contacted her sooner!”

Nonie was Hera’s estranged mother. After leaving her daughter on the Megaran’s doorstep when she was only a month old, Nonie went back to dancing at the Red Ruby. Tathines never tried to hide the identity or profession of her real mother from her. He told her everything he could remember about the encounter and the Zeltron. Hera has never met her mother and does not desire to either. Nonie tried to contact her once after her election to the Senate, but Hera never replied.

Love Interests

Garrison Kialin

“I’ll admit that I did not want to marry you at first…but unfortunately you grew on me.”
“Well, you sure know who stroke a man’s ego.”
- Hera teases Garrison about their arranged marriage.

Their month long courtship was full of uncertainty. Hera was afraid to marry someone she had just met and Garrison was unsure whether he would be happy with someone like her. Things started to change as they spent almost everyday with each other. They found they had a lot in common. Hera thought he was smart, charming, and sweet. She could not help but to adore everything about him.

All of their friends thought they had the perfect marriage because of how well they worked together and how affectionate they remained throughout the years. His passing was the hardest thing she ever had to face. The fact that he was murdered did not help the raging storm of emotions inside of her. Many people doubted the extent of grief because she never revealed such things in the eyes of the public, yet every time she reached for a weapon, that anger and hate echoed in every movement. It took her years before she could even consider loving anyone again.

Tomas Hardin
“We could runaway together. Maybe start a new life on a planet that doesn’t know our names. You could quit smuggling and I’d resign from the Senate.”
“The idea of it is breath taking but we both know it won’t happen in this life. I love you, you love me, yet that is all we can give to each other…at least for now.”
- Tomas reminds Hera that their relationship cannot happen at the moment.

They were intensely attracted to each other as well. Hardin was the exact opposite of Hera. She liked intellectual conversations while he preferred the drunken banter of foolish smugglers. She preferred to talk out her problems while he liked to fix his issues with his fists. Then though they were completely different they actually had a lot in common. Tomas was shockingly compassionate, brilliant, and caring individual, just like Megaran.

Soon, Hera was head-over heels for him within the brief time they spent together. As they progressed in their relationship, they developed a deep friendship. They spent a year officially together until their relationship became too serious. Hera knew she wanted to be with him more than anything and Tomas felt the same way. She hoped they could quit their jobs and runaway together, starting a new life. Hera was incapable of doing it and so was he. With a treaty soon to be signed she found it hard to abandon her work. Tomas enjoyed the thrill and the pay too much to stop selling spice.

They ended their relationship on good terms, with promises of giving it another shot one day. They see each other again after the Sacking of Coruscant and a few more times over the years but still remained separated from each other.

Brayllis Arkham

“I would die a thousand times over and over again. I would suffer an afterlife of torment for just once you'd let me hold you.”- The battle worn soldier confesses to the senator.

Brayllis has been in love with Hera since Nara Starway. The two become close friends and keep in touch after their mission. He drops by her office every now and then to share news with her about the war. When the Blood Bond disappears Brayllis manages to get closer to her because they ended up spending so much time together. The soldier is extremely jealous of Hardin, the smuggler who joins the group and captures Hera’s attention, openly stating his distaste for the man.

He keeps his emotions a secret from her until the Sacking of Coruscant when he assumes they are going to die. Hera had only ever thought of him as a handsome man and often considered having a one night stand with him. They shared an intimate kiss that leaves him wanting more; however, she decides that it could not go any farther. Hera tells him that it would be better if they remained friends and they do.

Commodore Drayven Renarus

“I have a chance to strike a killing blow every time we meet yet I am incapable of raising a finger against you. What kind of sorcery do you possess that makes me forsake everything I know?”

Before they had even met, the pair was convinced they loathed one another. Hera had ruined Renarus’ chances of being promoted and he had ordered the death of her three friends. They both swore that the other would die by their hand. To their surprise, they finally met after the treaty had been signed at a gala. Neither could do anything about their hate in fear of starting another war. Instead they spent the whole night verbally abusing each other in a inconspicuous way.

The Red Krayt Dragon Gang, disguised as Republic and Sith soldiers, hijacked the party and held everyone hostage except Megaran and Renarus who escaped. As they fought for their lives side by side, a new emotion emerged between them: respect. They shared stories with each other and almost kissed. When Hera was shot, instead of letting her die, like his superiors would have wanted, he carried her to safety, saving her life. They departed on good terms, hoping that they would never meet again on such terms.

A few months passed before they were reunited this time on Chandrila. The commodore had been tasked with convincing the planet to join the Sith. Hera declined immediately but extended him an invitation into her home. They spent a month together against her best judgment. She was aware that it did not look good to have a Sith officer staying in her home. In addition to that, she was unsure why she enjoyed his company so much. They were on opposing sides but it never seemed that way.

Before he left, he did steal a kiss from her and promised to stay in touch.

Enemies and Rivals

Ra’s Draugr

“Do you really want to play this game, senator? I own this galaxy.”
“Own the space, the land, yes, but its inhabitants will never be yours. They follow people like me.”
An encounter between Draugr and Megaran after Nara Starway.
While she was undercover, investigating Nara Starway, she became an acquaintance of Red Krayt Dragon leader Ra’s Draugr. She manipulated his emotions and threatened in order to get what she wanted. Under her guidance, Ra’s ended his contract with the Sith and destroyed the Space Ripper.

Draugr and his gang were now being attacked by the Republic and Sith as they continued to voyage through the galaxy. When the Blood Bond emerged, the Republic destroyed his estate and tried to arrest him. He evaded them to only run into Megaran.

After another humiliating encounter with the senator, Draugr was out for blood. He assembled the masses and forged a new relationship with the Sith, calling for her death. His troops interrupted a gala in order to kill her. When that was unsuccessful, he continued his vendetta despite the advice of his aide’s persistent warnings.

Valintine Sabine

“All Renarus ever thinks about is you. If I had my way I would kill you right here right now, but the Commodore would not be pleased.”
“Well, honey. You are more than welcome to try.”

A Sith Warrior, Valintine Sabine, is a sadistic and cruel woman fascinated by Commodore Drayven Renarus. She worked closely with Renarus for many years and actually thought there was something between them. With the space ripper technology no longer with the Sith Empire’s grasp, Sabine noticed as Renarus became obsessed with Senator Megaran.

She became overwhelmingly jealous when she discovered he harbored feelings for her. Valintine is just looking for the right time to prove that she is the better woman they only way she knows how: by shedding blood.

Dukar Yount

“Kialin Industries was supposed to mine! How did you force Garrison to choose you over me, his best friend?”
“How can you, his best friend, hurt the only thing he loved in this life?”
- Hera and Dukar argue before they fight.

Dukar was Hera’s deceased husband’s childhood friend. Garrison and Dukar rose up from the ashes of poverty to create Kialin Industries. While Hera was married to Garrison, Yount remained civil and seemed to really like the senator. However, after Kialin’s death, he changed.

When the company was left to Hera and not Dukar, he was enraged. Megaran let him keep his job and facilitate when she was not present but that was not good enough for Dukar. His superb intellect and quiet anger made him a dangerous foe, yet Hera was clueless. She believed that they were friends for the longest time.

I can read women's mind. Unsuprinsingly, this led me to insanity and nightmares that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Malcome knows women like he knows multivariable calculus... this is perhaps why they don't stick around to see how the problem is solved.
