Hello all!  In order to make sure we have realistic RP missions and sessions in general.  The Leadership has come up with a skill system that we are going to use to rate the effectiveness of our characters at certain activities that come up during a mission.  Certainly, this isn't an exhaustive list of all abilities a character possesses but this is the basic list of skills that are regularly used in missions.  If you think a skill should be added, please send a PM to an officer.  This system and character sheet was designed by me with input from Brucil, Ixidor, Tellen, and Scott.  Thanks to those folks for helping refine the system!

Skills Sheet
Combat Skills
Lightsaber:  This skill represents a character's skill with a lightsaber in combat.  This is not specific to any form but just a general skill level.

Melee Weapons:  This skill represents a character's skill with non-lightsaber melee weapons.

Blasters:  This skill represents a character's ability to effectively use blaster weapons (rifles and pistols).

Heavy Weapons/Ordnance:  This skill represents how effectively a character can use heavy weapons or ordanance (grenades, rocket launchers, etc.) in combat.

Force Power:  This skill represents how effectively your character can use the Force as an offensive or defensive weapon in combat.  Think force push, lightning, choke, shield, etc.

Unarmed:  This skill represents how effectively you can fight with no weapon.

Utility Skills
Acrobatics:  This skill represents a character's ability to avoid catastrophic things.  This is the skill check used if, for example, you were climbing a wall while being shot at to see if you were hit and the consequences if you were.  Every character in the Fillorean Society is rated as [Basic] in this skill without any point investment.

Awareness:  This skill represents a character's ability to perceive hidden things as well as notice details.  Note that this is meant to reflect a skill level above the average person.

Computers:  This skill represents a character's ability to interact with, hack, and generally usefully use a computer system.

Demolitions:  This skill represents a character's ability to use explosives as a utility tool (blowing open a lock, etc.) without killing themselves, others, or destroying the thing they were trying to open.  It also represents a skill in defusing bombs or other explosive type traps.

Force Power (utility):  This skill represents a character's ability to use the force for a utility purpose.  This may include a mind trick, distracting someone, using the force to conceal yourself, etc.

Mechanics:  This skill represents a character's ability to interact and manipulate mechanical systems (repairing mechanical equipment, reprogramming droids, operating mechanical equipment that is already working, etc.)

Security:  This skill represents a character's ability to use security systems to their advantage (picking locks, reprogramming security systems, designing effective security systems against enemies, etc.)

Speechcraft:  This skill represents a character's ability to successfully talk their way out of situations, bluff, persuade people, etc.  Pretty much anything involving being good at talking.

Stealth:  This skill represents a character's ability to sneak and be stealthy.  This skill also encompasses the use of a stealth field generator where applicable.

Treat Injury:  This skill represents a character's ability to administer first aid.  Note that this is above and beyond the basic ability to use medpacs and ready made stims, though a character with this skill would make better use of those items.  This skill also covers advanced knowledge of biology and anatomy generally (a person with a high treat injury skill might know better how to hurt someone via torture or be able to determine a cause of death).

Skill Rankings
"But Sergei," you exclaim drunkenly, "What does this all mean?!  How do we rate ourselves?!  WHY ARE YOU SUCH A TERRIBLE GUILD LEADER?!"

Slow your roll, recruit, I was just getting to that.  Each character in the Society will have a total of 15 "points" to assign into each of the various skills.  Each point (from 1-4) will correspond to a different skill rating and each skill rating will correspond with a bonus to a "roll" or "check" in that ability.  Confused?  Here's a more visual layout:

0 points - No skill:  This means your character will suffer a penalty to all rolls in that area if they attempt the skill.  The skill roll penalty is -2.

1 point - Basic skill:  This means your character possesses the basic knowledge of the task.  They know the fundamentals but aren't particularly skilled at it.  No negative or bonus to a roll, but does allow the character to attempt a task without added risk.

2 points - Proficient:  This means your character is smarter than the average bear at whatever the skill is.  They have a more specialized knowledge and have devoted some effort to going beyond basic knowledge.  They're still far from mastering it.  A bonus of +1 to rolls.

3 points - Advanced:  This means your character is very skilled in the activity.  They aren't among the top echelon, but they're certainly above the crowded masses below.  A bonus of +3 to rolls.

4 points - Master:  This means your character has mastered (or virtually mastered) the activity.  The character has few that can claim to be better than they are and it mostly comes down to luck.  They are truly elite in the practice of this skill.  A bonus of +5 to rolls.

So, for each character you have, you need to fill out this skill sheet and assign the 15 points you are allotted.  That number of points is sufficient to either allow you to be proficient/advanced in many things or master a few things.  This is intentional.  If you have any questions or comments about the system, feel free to PM an officer.
