Clash of Fates Empty
PostSubject: Clash of Fates   Clash of Fates EmptySun Mar 28, 2010 4:17 pm

(If you haven't, check out A New Journey. It will help understand this story better. Very Happy Enjoy!)

Prelude

It has almost been two decades since the meeting of Scott and Kira and the Treaty of Coruscaunt. Both have continued to struggle through a war ridden Galaxy. Though many events have occurred in the time between now and then, the Force is drawing Scott and Kira together in a new chapter.

Scott:

It wasn’t long after Scott left Chandrila that he was swept into the Great Holocron Crisis. After receiving a message from a Jedi Master claiming to have the holocron in his possession, Scott converged on the scavenge to find The Great Holocron. He felt that no side should be in control of such a powerful artifact whilst the war was going, even if it was a cold war.

However, betrayal is like a plague for those who don’t share a common goal. Scott had risen to lead a small band of independent fighters to the holocron. A failed assassination attempt left Scott in rage. He killed the team of Sith assassins without even raising a finger. The betrayers fled in fear, but Scott did not bother to follow.

The rogue band dispersed when Scott left the small faction. Scott fought with his old friend from when he was in training at the Jedi Temple, Tellen Silversun, on the forgotten world of Ossus. In the end the holocron was lost, and the Hunt for the Great Holocron ended.

Scott returned to seeking ancient star charts and maps to his homeworld, all the time being hunted by the Sith. And more specifically one Sith in general, Darth Kiranas. Several occasion they caught site of each other, though they never fought.

Scott watched on Trellia as Kira disposed of a Hutt ran crime syndicate. It wasn’t a coincidence that she was there following him. He had made dealings with the Hutt’s for ancient Hutt holorecords, which were surprisingly the most enlightening charts Scott received in his journey. Afterwards the Hutt’s had tried to collect the bounty the Sith had put on him. Scott saw through the attempt and escaped as he saw Kira enter the scene. Shortly after Satele Shan had become Grandmaster of the Jedi Council.

For years Scott’s life was a mixture of events. He went in search of the Aing Tii for guidance into his past. Along the way he invented a new power he called Force Blade. To reach the Aing Tii Scott had to use techniques he learned on Kel Dor many years before. He refined and manipulated the technique to his uses. He then returned to aid the Republic in the ongoing secret war. Battles began to flare up from planet to planet, threatening all out war once more. The Treaty was beginning to strain.

Later, during the cold war Scott, once again, ran into his old comrade, Tellen. On Ansion Scott joined a secret society, The Fillorean Society, in stopping a Sith fleet. For a few years Scott fought alongside with the Society’s members, which contained many of the Republic’s strongest and wisest. Scott grew closer and closer to what the Republic stood for. He soon ventured beyond the Society and became known to the Republic.

As the treaty strained more and more Scott was at the Republic’s call to end strife. In the battle of Karas V Scott became a hero to the Republic. Karas V was one of the new locations of a Jedi Academy. The Force imprint on the world was strong. In an awesome feat of the Force Scott pulled landing ships, fighters, and eventually a whole cruiser from the sky and smashed them among the world’s mountains.

Jedi Master Shen, a keeper of the Jedi Archives and consequently on Karas V to sit on the academy’s new council, declared him the Guardian of the Force. It was familiar to Scott, though he did not know how. The Force continued to whisper things to come in Scott’s ears. In person Scott did not see himself as a hero. He was just another survivor in a long line of warriors in this drawn out war.

Kira:

Enraged Kira tore off through the Galaxy in search of her prey. Ruthlessly she hunted down contacts and forced words from them. It got her nowhere. Behind her she left a reef of destruction and debris. Enraged and filled with guilt she returned to Dromund Kaas when Lord Karsh summoned her. But the Sith Lord did not wipe her from his presence. In fact it was the opposite. He seemed quite pleased with her. Anger filled her being to its core. He had created what he wanted, an obedient and tempered warrior.

Instead of sending her back on the Jedi’s trail, Darth Karsh put her on detail to remove lower scheming Sith Lords and Moffs. Though, he ordered her to be vigilant for signs of the Jedi. On Redisis Prime Kira got her first appearance into the Jedi she had been chasing for years. She tracked the manufacturer for mysterious Jedi’s ship to Redisis. Here she was given the name of the mysterious Jedi, Scott Chain. She cross-referenced the name with several other aliases, and it turned out to be his true name.

To her surprise the so-called Jedi she had been chasing, all these years, was not a Jedi, at least no longer. The man had spoken the truth. It made her task much harder. She gathered what records she could and read up on as much of his background as she could. To her dismay he was listed as deceased, though she knew it wasn’t the case, as the date listed was before she’s met him.

Soon she followed Scott very closely, becoming more informative on his movement. As she watched from afar the man’s actions seemed to betray her again and again. His actions continued to break every conception she had of him. Bringing her back almost to her first impression of him. But, no matter how close she would get he would slip through her fingers.

Several years later Kira ran into an old woman wrapped in tattered rags. She did not recognize the elderly face she saw, but knew instantly who it was. Kira was in shock, Velmoras was blind in one eye and wrapped in ragged clothing. Velmoras told her that she had not been attacked by the Jedi, instead Lord Karsh had lied to Kira. Lord Karsh set up Velmoras demise himself, and to further sway Kira to his grasp. But instead of anger and fury emanating from the old master there was only passiveness.

Velmoras told Kira that she did not seek revenge and that Kira shouldn’t either. Velmoras was done with the empire. She revealed to Kira that she had had plans of becoming powerful enough to bring the empire under her own reigns. But, the Sith were too corrupt, and it would be their undoing. Velmoras could see the same dream begin to wither in Kira’s eyes.

Velmoras’ parting wisdom to Kira was the choice that she would soon have to make. Velmoras had continuously recived visions of her old apprentice’s future. She told Kira that she would betray Scott or she would follow him. Kira would be given the option of power versus freedom. Velmoras warned Kira that she would not be able to defeat Scott in terms of battle, but that she would have an even greater feat against the man. Kira would be able to control the Nebulan with his own compassion for Kira.

Though she believed what her old master said was true she still had much ambition. Kira wanted to find this wanderer even more so than before. The man was the key to what lie ahead of her. The Force was drawing her somewhere. What? The Force doesn’t draw Sith anywhere. The Sith are its master. Doubt began to cloud Kira’s mind.

On Arkania Kira glanced out the transparastele of a walkway. Through the downpour of rain she caught sight of a shadow atop a building near the walkway. It disappeared before she could focus on it. But the presence was there. Scott had been watching her this whole time. It was impossible to follow a ghost. Kira stood and peered out into the stormy sky giving a sigh. From the shadows of the building next to the skyway a hooded figure immerged. As the figure raised its head Scott’s face was lit by flashes of lightening. His expression looked passive, but his presence in the Force emanated almost sadness.

Kira was becoming more and more aware of him. She could feel another presence with her all the time now. When she had first met the man she’d thought that it was a residual effect of her own thoughts splitting. But he had been there in the Force the entire time. He could not hide from her, and that’s what he was doing by letting her see him. The figure disappeared after another brilliant streak of light flashed across the glassy buildings.

I’m coming for you, wanderer…

Clash of Fates Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clash of Fates   Clash of Fates EmptyMon Apr 12, 2010 1:14 pm

(Things pick up more in this story more than the prequel, as you will see in this first chapter alone. I do hope you enjoy it, because I'm really getting into the story this time. I thouroughly enjoyed writing this first chapter.)

Chapter I

(Balmorra)

Flying over the plain a single snowflake decended over the valley below. The region is vast and expansive. The first signs of winter were appearing. Atop a hill in the central valley Scott could see for miles. The mountains to the south were the only obstacle in viewing range. The snowflake descends and lightly faded into Scott’s shoulder. He took a deep breath, centering himself for the day to come. The first major battle since the treaty was signed.

His battle tattered robes weaved in the wind. His armor made a small thud as Rowand placed a hand on his old apprentice’s shoulder. Rowand smiles at him, his hair becoming more and more gray streaked with the long years. Yet Scott hadn’t aged a day since Scott’s return over 20 years ago. He was now 45 or so and looked as if he were 25.

“Aye… It’s going to be a long day.” Rowand said with a grin. War had given the large man a dark sense of humor. Regardless of what the citizens of the Republic heard, there had always been frontlines where people died. But the war had become second nature to everyday people, especially since they thought of it as a cold war. It didn’t matter though, people would die this day.

Scott nodded in response. Looking out across the battle ravaged plains there was a small rumble in the distance. The Sith army was approaching. In the previous week, the Republic fought the Sith fleet deeper into the system to finally gain a foothold. The week before that, the ambassadors and senators of Balmorra were executed publically for going to the Republic for aid. It was the last straw among the Republic senate.

Scott glanced down the row of the frontline. Many faces could be seen, most of whom were largely heroes to the Republic. Many of those faces were now good friends and allies of his. Taking another deep breath his gaze returned to his old master.

“Been flow-wlakin’ again, eh?” Rowand said quietly. The question was more directed at Scott’s tired appearance. Scott nodded. “What’s the score?”

“I don’t know.” Scott said flatly. It was true mostly. For reasons unknown to him flow-walking had become increasingly difficult to access. Instead he was reduced to mere visions. “Something big is coming, or going to happen. It is greater than this battle today.”

“She’s here isn’t she?” Rowand said on queue. The master knew Scott well, and he merely nodded again. Scott could feel Kira's presence across the plains.

Rowand turned and headed towards an officer to discuss tactics of their platoon. The Grand Army of the Republic was strewn across the fields of Balmorra. It was an immense scene to see so many beings, tanks, hover craft, equipment and the like.

Across the land the Sith had equal to the Republics forces, and were closing in.
Due to the geographical nature of the region there was no other way to fight this battle. If the Republic stayed within the mountains the Sith would merely shell them out. It would become a battle like those of old. It would end up a face to face confrontation. Scott relished in it. Then, Scott looked up, the Sith army was there before him.

“Ready cannons!” Scott yelled into his com on his shoulder, hidden in his armor. The troops around him rallied. They were ready for battle.

Good…

“This is it my old apprentice. Just like old times.” Rowand was beside him again. He gave a warm fatherly smile. “May the Force be with you, whatever happens.”

“May the Force be with us all.” Scott said into his com and to his old master. This was the defining moment. Scott detached his lightsaber from his belt. Activating his blade, above his head, he filled it with the Force. The pure white beam of energy caught the eyes of everyone near him. In turn, as one looked down the front line, sabers of all types began to activate in a mimicking fashion.

Without a word Scott dove forward in a sprint, silent. The first Sith troops burst over the nearest hill to him. His com was filled with shouts and orders. Jedi, tanks, troopers and the like spilled forward after him. Just before piercing into the mass of Sith troops Scott released a ground shaking battle roar. His hair, tied back in a battle braid, turned bone white. His skin began to glow with his birthmarkings. His eyes emanated rage, and radiate a brilliant white/blue glow.

Surprise and terror filled the first trooper his blade pierced. The enemies closest to him didn’t even have the chance to raise their weapons as he cut through them like an enraged rancor through a civilian crowd. One after another the troopers fell. He sent a static bomb into the crowd of soldiers before him, clearing the way deeper into the Sith’s massive force. He used his Force Blade to pierce through the armor of a tank, rendering it debris on the battle field.

Scott leapt into the air as a smoking enemy fight cruised towards the ground. He ran the length of the fighter flipping off it to the ground again. The fighter crashed behind him, releasing a pulse that scattered everyone who was not crushed by the impact. He continued forward. Ahead he spotted the first Sith warrior. He strolled towards Scott as if he were not a challenge. Scott ran for the warrior and met his crimson blade.

The force of the colliding blades sent the Sith warrior back a few steps, before retaliating. The warrior underestimated every one of Scott’s maneuvers. Soon the Sith warrior found himself with a whole in his torso, as the life faded from him. Soon another warrior met his blade. This time the warrior was even less skilled, and Scott sliced the being in thirds. A warrior with a saber staff charged him next. Parrying twice, Scott sent a push in the Force out at the warrior. The impact shattered the persons saber and bones.

Battle filled his being. He was not Jedi, he did not fear to use his rage. He was unstoppable. One Sith after another fell before him. During a spin attack on one opponent he glanced back at the Republic’s progress. The majority of the army was still more than a kilometer away. Few like Scott had made it as deep as he had. All fought just as impressively. Off in the distance Scott could see Rowand slice through the leg of Sith rancor, leaving it stumbling and tripping into the earth. The next second there were two blood red sabers entangled with his master’s dual blades.

When Scott completed his spin he connected a kick to the jaw of his opponent, snapping their neck and shattering there jaw in a bloody mess. He back flipped away and began a battle towards his old mentor. Then a being appeared before him. It was an Echani, and by the Force they were emanating Scott guessed she was a Sith lord.

Scott fought the Sith lord back, attempting to reach his master. There were now five sabers nipping at his master’s defensive weave. Scott brought his blade around to the back of his attacker. The Echani woman leapt backwards over the strike. Catching her in mid air Scott grabbed her in the Force and threw her against the side of a fallen hovercraft. The impact incapcitated the Sith lord long enough for Scott to make his way closer to Rowand.

He was too late, Scott whipped around just in time to see his master run through. A bloody orange blade protruded through Rowand heart, but the master didn’t fall. He grabed the hand that sealed his soon-to-be fate and pulled the being onto his own single, remaining saber. Rowand spit up blood as he was stabbed a second time from behind. Already dying, Scott felt the life force leave his master with the next slash.

No…

Scott struggled to reach his old master’s body, but the large man was no more than a heap on the ground. The Sith that completed the deed turned and scattered back out into the battle. Scott caught one by surprise and used the Force to rip the man’s spine from his body. The Sith screamed in agony and fell dead.

No…

It wasn’t possible to him. The man who he had come to know as a father destroyed, yet again, by the hands of the Sith. Scott seethed in rage. He hated the Sith. Whirling he sent out a shock wave knocking back all near him, Republic and Sith were scattered. He didn’t care. Blood filled his vision. He caught sight of the Echani Sith lord he threw earlier. She was now slicing the belly of a Republic soldier open and continued into a spin that planted her blade between the shoulderblades of a young female Jedi Knight.

He caught her next swing startling her in mid laugh. Her twisted chuckle turned to a sneer. It was soon replaced with fear and terror as she saw his face. Desperately she blocked his attacks, but it wasn’t enough. With a few quick and powerful strikes he beat her defense down and left her headless.

Scott reared for the next challenge. He was not ready for what he saw. Before him stood the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. The fact that she was Sith twisted him inside. Her glare was eaqualy intense. Her long hair was a pure white, and her markings and eyes glowed with the same hue as his. Long moments passed as the battle blazed around them. Vehicles crashed, beings bled, and fires ravaged the battlefield.

“Darth Kiranas.” Scott bowed low in rage, yet not angry at her. Perhaps the rage was because he could not hate her.

(Here's chapter II Enjoy and comment!)

Chapter II
(Balmorra)

The battle thundered with deep base as Kira jumped from one piece of debris to another. She flung her saber towards a group of Republic troopers. The blade decapitated one and sunk into the chest of another trooper. Calling on the Force her saber returned to her hand. She unsheathed her katana with her other hand and spun into the remainder of the group, finishing them off. Combat filled her mind. There was no thought, no remorse.

One after another her foes fell before her. Then she saw him, beating down the remaining defense of a helpless Sith Lord. Scott was not like any of the other times she had encountered him. His appearance mirrored hers. But, there was something deeper, something that was twisting the man inside.

“Darth Kiranas.” Scott said with a low bow. Anger filled his words. She was so used to feeling his concealed presence that she was not ready for the moment. The Force literally made up his presence, as if poured out from him. A twinge of cold slowly made its way up her spine. Before she could react he was standing before her.

Kira’s reflexes kicked in and she swung for him. Scott brought his blade up and batted the reaction aside. Her thoughts returned to her. How was she supposed to fight somebody who could sense her movements to their core, and she could sense his? The next few moments were pure art. A lunge would be parried with a roll that would move into another strike. One would acrobatically twist away and the other would follow. Blade met blade, and nothing more. It looked as if the battle had been choreographed.

Kira retreated a few steps and sheathed her katana. There wasn’t time for this. There was a plan to complete, and orders to follow. Her features returned to normal and she stared deep into Scott’s eyes. Her heart skipped slightly as his features planed back to usual. His calm hazel eyes entranced her. Her presence said follow, and he did.

Kira raced through the battle field then away from it and towards an outcrop of cliffs to the west. Every now and then Scott would catch her and she would have to beat away glancing blows. He no longer tried to make killing blows.

Good…

Kira knew she would not be able to best Scott in a pure one on one battle. But… part of being a Sith, was to be cunning. As she neared the uplifted land mass, it split into a series of canyons, carved over the millennia by a river. She stopped and whipped around when she reached the bank of the river. Trees and vegetation grew throughout and on the canyon.

Then Scott entered the clearing. His fate was sealed.

“Well done, Darth Kiranas.” A deep and ominous voice crept up from behind her. Darth Karsh stepped from behind the shadow of a nearby tree. “You have played your part excellently.”

“Thank you, my Lord.” Kira turned to the dark lord, bowed, and returned her glare to Scott. The man looked perplexed as several figures began to step out of the shadows of the canyon. He flipped his unusual colored blade into reverse grip. Instead of continuing to emanate fury and desire into the Force, to Kira’s surprise, he reverted to calm and drew his presence in. Lord Karsh laughed harshly.

“You can’t hide from us here.” Lord Karsh stepped into place behind Kira, indicating her. “But… unfortunately your purpose has been served... Darth Kiranas.”

Son of a…

Pain shot through Kira’s body as lightening whipped around her. Scott surged forward
and was met by two Sith warriors before he could reach Kira.

“Don’t worry your time is coming too, my elusive prey.” The Sith lord returned to torturing Kira. “You and your master always were a disease in the Empire.”

“You were the one who killed her!” Kira screamed, and Scott desperately dueled the two marauders. He must have been able to feel her pain through their bond.

“Yes… besides, your services are no longer required. You see, the emperor only requires one nightblade at a time. Oh, yes, there is another.” Lord Karsh’s Force lightening ceased. “However, I am not going to kill you. The emperor wishes to break you and your counterpart himself. Did you think I never felt your ambition. Your feelings for peace with the Republic, through power. Pathetic. There can be no peace. You are weak, but the emperor will make you strong. And if you will not be broken, you will be killed.”

Kira let out another scream of agony as Lord Karsh resumed his demonstration of power. He picked her up in the Force and flung her from the bank into the river. Scott had killed three of the adepts and broke the saber lock of another. He surged toward the river’s bank and dove.

The water was cold. Kira couldn’t move her muscles. She thought helplessly as she sank further into the river. There was barely a current. Then through the murky water a hand appeared. It grabbed her and then clutched her tightly. Scott began to pull her to the surface. Sky appeared overhead again, and Kira breathed deeply.

“Pull them out and transport them to Dromund Kass.” Lord Karsh said with a sneer.

Chapter III

(Dromund Kaas)

Shouts and screams echoed through Scott’s head. Past battles whipped by him. One second he would be standing next to a comrade, the next scud fighters soaring over his head crusading to the ground in balls of flame. These were battles that he knew, battles he had fought in. Scott turned in the ever changing events. His master cried out as he fell upon crimson blades.

No… wait… this has already happened…

The landscape changed. He stood in deep space as starfighters and battle cruisers screamed toward each other. Bright bursts of light filled the black void as both sides converged. He knew this battle as well. Soon he was whisked away even further.

He sat in a cantina, surrounded by members of the Fillorean Society. They laughed and talked of meaningless trivia. Scott smiled for a moment. But the environment soon changed again. He dueled Tellen in a draw to reach the Great Holocron, which turned to be a fake; the real one long gone. They laughed.

Further…

Kira stood before him in her apprentice garbs. Scott’s chest felt warm. They were on Daroth IV. Her lips moved, but no sound came from them.

Wait… what is going on…

Further…

He felt a gentle urge to search deeper. Scott sat in the Jedi temple on Coruscaunt. He sat in a lesson with master Rowand. Scott’s young eyes were glazed over as Rowand told him stories of the force. Scott watched his former self train with a lightsaber. He was one of the outmatched apprentices in the temple.

Then Rowand stood over him. Blood and sweat dripping from the giant man. He was a beacon of hope and admiration to Scott. His parents stood before him, as they battled with a Sith Lord. Scott watched in horror as they fell. His mother whispered something to him, but he couldn’t hear her.

Damn it… why can’t I hear you…

Scott pleaded, but no remorse came. Scott found he was on his knees, tears streaming from his face.

No… no more…

Further…

Scott heard it clearer this time. There was a presence not of his own in his thoughts.

No…

Further…

No…

With that something changed. Memories of Scott’s life faded away. Battles he had never seen before appeared before him. They were battles of old.

But what is happening…

The urging presence was nowhere to be found, but Scott watched as a hooded figure slowly approached him. It was not the same presence. It had no presence, but these were not his memories. A familiar woman’s voice filled his thoughts.

These are not my memories either… Guardian…

Who are you… I know you…

We met once, yes… But you only need to know me as a messenger…

What is going on… why am I here…

I’m surprised you haven’t figured that one out… The Dark Lord of the Sith has grazed your mind…

What… Why is he so interested in me…

What are you Guardian…

I’m…

Exactly… You have no idea who you are… Yet I have told you before…

I am not who you think I am…

You’re not… Perhaps… Perhaps not…

Why are you helping me…

Helping you… I have done no such thing… You have done this yourself… It is your creation… You can shut yourself off from the rest of the galaxy, and all those who are in it… Because you are not a part of it… You know this…

You said you were a messenger… Who sent you…

Who sent me… The force sent me Guardian…

What…

Be mindful of what the Emperor wants of you… His will is a strong one… But where you come from gives you the advantage… They can’t twist what they doesn’t understand… You are beautiful Guardian… Unique… He wants that…

I’m not any more 'unique' than the next man… Like many people I don’t know where I come from… War tosses us around and we lose sight of where we were…

Oh, no… Save your modesty... You already know you come from a place forbidden to the known galaxy… Your people will need you before the end… Guardian of the Force…

Scott couldn’t respond. The cloaked woman evaporated, soon the vision followed. His world turned to a haze. He turned his head slightly, only to have excruciating pain shoot through his body. Everything was a blur before him. A figure in a mask stood before him. It waited patiently for him to come around. Then there was a low mechanical voice.

“Your will is strong, but it will be broken.” After that the universe plunged him into a sea of agony.
