Is it true?

Is it true that a persons highest level of intellect is when they're alone, and from there, their intellect level begins to decrease when they form a group and add more people to that group? Because I think it's true. Based on personal experiences and observation.

I'd believe it... when you're in a group whether you want to or not you rely on the intellect of others. It's basic human communication. Of course, in groups your total intellect can be strengthened greatly too.

It swings both ways. Groups can either turn into Mobs (read: Morons) or Hiveminds (Brilliance). It depends on what's going on.

For example: Riots. One guy throws a stone, soon 3 more do it. Then things escalate as people follow the leader.

For example: There's an "mmo" out there designed by folks who want to stop pirates on the oceans. They let people -- anyone-- civilian and military alike, to play it as either security forces (with all the red-tape there is) or the pirates. These players, who are sometimes lead by military folk, other times not, have come up with brilliant strategies.

I could believe that.

But then again, the brain tries to make sense of everything..
