It's because death in the series' are on at pivotal points to the plot, defeats aren't. The Death of Ace and Whitebeard in One Piece for instance (prompted the 2 year training timeskip), same with the death of Nami's foster mom. If death happened to the villain after every arc it wouldn't have nearly the same impact (and it would be predictable and sickening imho). I personally prefer little to no death, except at key moments, like Fairy Tail, One Piece etc. do. I'm not asking for a bloodshed, and there are times when it's better to have the villian defeated instead of killed(Crocodile, CP9(Except for the round dude, because oh boy, he was annoying), Jellal, Gajeel, Laxus). But there are other times where it gets silly(Spandam and Enel for example). I don't know, when I first saw Jellal again, I was kinda pissed but to be honest, he was never really evil, so that's ok. However, Barth, clear me something up. Does Jellal become something like the Sasuke of Fairy Tail? | |
